This deck will be structured based on the Rider-Waite tarot deck (the classic one most of you know and love!), so that you can actually read with them.

There will be a total of 78 cards, covering the major arcana (22 cards) and minor Arcana (56 cards covering pentacles, wands, swords, and cups)

This project will not be following the approach where the character's in game arcana is automatically assigned to them as their card in this deck.

This deck may be Persona 5 themed, but the intention is for any owner of the deck to be able to read with them as they would any other tarot deck, and have the imagery/character on the card accurately represent the actual meaning the card holds.

This allows more flexibility so that every card in the deck has artwork on it, and there can be more contributors!

Applications will require artists to select characters they would be willing to draw from several categories (example categories being: antagonists/villains, main characters, NPC confidants, etc.)

Applicants will be assigned the card that we have designated for that character. The artist will be asked to draw the card with the meaning of the card in mind while representing their character.

List of cards and associated character will be coming soon!

We ARE looking for writing contributors as well, but not to write fic. We will be asking writers to rewrite the meaning of the tarot cards with their own creative spin on it referencing the persona 5 element or character associated with the meaning so that even our guidebook for the deck is p5 themed!

We will definitely need artists to draw the cards themselves. Artists will be allowed to draw up to 2 cards, but it won't be required they take on more than 1. If they take on 2 cards, they will only be granted one major character to draw to spread the love.

We will also be looking for merchandise artists to join our contributor team

You must be 18 years of age and have access to discord to apply.

All card names, meanings, and assignments will be listed out, organized by suit of card on the application.

You will be asked to pick no more than 5 from each category. Please see the Card List page to familiarize yourself with what you will be asked to select from ahead of time if you'd like!

Many characters are split up into alternative versions. For example, Haru is split out as Haru and Noir. The expectation is to focus on that particular version of the character that is assigned to the card

Some cards will be events - You will be asked to expand upon those events in either your writing or imagery

No AI content of any kind is permitted in your application, be it for art or writing. All works must be entirely original.

These applications are blind. Read below in the category you wish to apply for to learn about what is expected of a blind application

In the application, you will be asked for a link to your portfolio. Please provide a link to a Google Drive folder that contains 7-10 images you feel best represents you.

Please be sure that your portfolio folder is visible to all who view the link

Applications will be blind, so make sure any identifying information on your pieces is erased or has a black bar over it (no worries if the black bar covers a bit of the art, we will know it is there to cover any signatures/identifying information)

All art pieces in your portfolio should be SFW. Artistic nudity is fine, but no sexually explicit content or violence beyond what is seen in-game. If you feel you have to include a content warning on the piece, please do not submit it.

You are not required to provide art from persona 5 in your application, but do keep in mind that it will help us better see your ability to draw characters you may be selecting in your application.

All artists will be graded using this rubric. Your score across all grading mods will be averaged.

Any card assignment that is a location will be up to the artist's interpretation. For example: Jazz Jin. You can choose to draw just the location itself, maybe with the inclusion of the manager, or you can depict AkiRen bringing a confidant.

Any card name that contains a * means that if you opt in to do 2 cards but are selected for one with a *, you will only do that one. That's because the content of the card is more complex/has multiple characters (3 or more)

Portfolio should generally represent the style you wish to use / what you wish to make

Include past merch designs / product photos in your portfolio if you have them, though it is not a requirement

We recommend showing a variety of merch types in your portfolio. If you have not had any physical merch made before, providing digital designs is okay

In the application, you will be asked for a link to your portfolio. Please provide a link to a Google Drive folder that contains all portfolio pieces you feel best represents you.

Please be sure that your portfolio folder is visible to all who view the link.

Applications will be blind, so make sure any identifying information (names, handles, fic titles) are removed from the pieces you provide.

The maximum word count for applications is 10k.

This can be broken up however you see fit. For example, 5 fanfic submissions of 2k each, or 1 meta post that is 6k words and 1 fanfic that is 4k words.

Further division are allowed, but do not submit more than 5 different pieces within the 10k word count limit.

Please keep in mind when submitting a snippet that we are looking for a scene that has a clear beginning, middle, and end to it and does not abruptly end mid-conversation or action sequence.

SFW excerpts from NSFW works are permitted. Please keep violent content levels within the bounds of canon. Please do not submit any sexually explicit content.

ALL SUBMITTED WORK will be required to be labeled with any potential content or trigger warnings. If you do not believe that content or trigger warnings apply to your work, please still provide, at the top of each portfolio piece: "No content or trigger warnings"
